No matter if you are diabetic or not, you should be screened for oral cancer annually, after you receive your dentures. The best way to remember, to get screened for oral cancer is to make an appointment once a year. If you do get oral cancer, it will be caught in time to fight the cancer away. Especially, get screened for oral cancer, when you dentures are ill fitting. Ill fitting dentures can a sign of having oral cancer.

If possible, try to make the appointments in a year in advance and have the dentist office call you before you have the appointment to remind you of your appointment. If your dentist office does not do that, then try to set one time of a year to get screened. For example, a month before or after your birthday, every year.
